Description

Students read and discuss the Level 3 August 2017 School Journal article, ‘Te Tiriti o Waitangi’ an article about the reasons behind why the Treaty was created, the two versions of it, its’ broken promises and the path forward to righting the wrongs of the past.

Students read the text and then think sustainably as they learn and explore deeper thinking behind the English and Maori interpretations of the treaty and its legacy today. Potential solutions and a path forward towards understanding Te Tiriri o Waitangi and an equitable future are found through discovery, discussion and application in the learning process itself as students work sequentially through the student project sheet.
