‘Heartbeat’ introduces students to different cultural perspectives (world-views) of New Zealand’s native forests (Ngahere) and by default nature itself.
Students read and discuss the Level 3, June 2012 School Journal article, ‘Heartbeat’, and then ‘think sustainably’ as they learn and explore deeper thinking about how an individual and societal world-views facilitate actions that determine impacts on both nature and people by sequentially working through the student project sheet. Alternative perspectives, solutions and a path forward are found through discovery, discussion and debate in the learning process itself.
