Description

The Bat that walks on the ground’ + ‘Talking to Bat Man’ introduces students to some key facts about the New Zealand Short-tailed bat and the threats they face.

Students read and discuss the Level 2 School Journal article, ‘The Bat that walks on the ground’ along with ‘Interview: Talking to Bat Man’, and then ‘think sustainably’ as they learn and explore deeper thinking about why our native bats are endangered by sequentially working through the student project sheet. Potential solutions to the threats Short-tailed bats face and a path forward are found through discovery, discussion and application in the learning process itself.
