Description

‘Olly’s Cicadas introduces students to some key facts about Cicada in New Zealand. Olly from Hamilton loves Cicada and even wrote a book about them when he was 11.

Students read and discuss the Level 3 School Journal article, ‘Olly’s Cicadas, and then ‘think sustainably’ as they learn and explore deeper thinking about the role Cicada have in food chains / food webs by sequentially working through the student project sheet. Potential solutions to protecting Cicada habitat and a path forward are found through discovery, discussion and application in the learning process itself.
