Description
Richard Owen’s Giant Mystery introduces students to our extinct Moa and how its demise can teach us about the threats our native birds face today.
Students read and discuss the Level 3, August 2015 School Journal article, ‘Richard Owen’s Giant Mystery’, and then ‘think sustainably’ as they learn and explore deeper thinking about the human impacts of habitat loss and the introduction of mammalian predators on our native birdlife today by sequentially working through the student project sheet. Potential solutions and a path forward are found through discovery, discussion and debate in the learning process itself.
