Description

Cats – who needs them?’ introduces students to some key cultural perspectives and management issues of the three legal categories of cats in New Zealand and their impacts on native wildlife.

Students read and discuss the Level 2 School Journal article, ‘Cats – who needs them?’, and then ‘think sustainably’ as they learn and explore deeper thinking about the morals and dilemmas of keeping cats as pets by sequentially working through the student project sheet. Potential solutions and a path forward are found through discovery, discussion and application in the learning process itself.
