‘Kaitiaki of the Stream’ introduces students to some key issues about water quality in our streams and waterways.
Students read and discuss the Level 2 School Journal article, ‘Kaitiaki of the Stream’ that focusses on the historic health and use of the Mangapouri Stream on the Kapiti Coast. Students leverage off this text to ‘think sustainably’ as they learn and explore deeper thinking about the causes of stream health decline by sequentially working through the student project sheet. Potential solutions and a path forward are found through discovery, discussion and application in the learning process itself.
