‘Living Fossils introduces students to some key facts about Tuatara.
Students read and discuss the Level 2 School Journal article, ‘Living Fossils, and then ‘think sustainably’ as they learn and explore deeper thinking about the uniqueness of Tuatara as ‘living fossils’ and the threats they face through ‘habitat loss’ and ‘introduced predators’ by sequentially working through the student project sheet. Potential solutions to protecting Tuatara and a path forward are found through discovery, discussion and application in the learning process itself.
