Description
‘Tiakina a Tangaroa – Protect our Seas’ introduces students to some key facts about the issues our oceans are facing due to human impacts.
Students read and discuss the School Journal article, ‘Tiakina a Tangaroa – Protect our Seas’, in which a group of students explore, compare and contrast a local ‘non-protected’ sea with the ‘protected’ Kapiti Island Marine Reserve and then ‘think sustainably’ as they learn and explore deeper thinking about protecting our seas by sequentially working through the student project sheet. Potential solutions and a path forward are found through discovery, discussion and application in the learning process itself.
