Description

The Plastic-free Challenge introduces students to plastic pollution in our oceans and ‘The Great Pacific Garbage Patch’. The article explores how students at Motueka South School sought first to remove plastic waste from their school lunches then ultimately the whole school.

Students read and discuss the Level 2 November 2018 School Journal article, ‘The Plastic-free Challenge’, and then ‘think sustainably’ as they learn and explore deeper thinking about plastic waste / garbage by sequentially working through the student project sheet. Potential solutions and a path forward to a plastic waste free future are found through discovery, discussion and application in the learning process itself.
