Description

The Longest Walk’ introduces students to the contribution outdoor recreation can make to our overall Hauora (wellbeing) and Kaitiakitanga (guardianship) of the environment.

Students read and discuss the Level 3 School Journal article, ‘The Longest Walk’, and then ‘think sustainably’ as they learn and explore deeper thinking about how to incorporate outdoor recreation in their lives to achieve sustainable Hauora outcomes and how those activities can contribute to our understanding of environmental issues and our need to mitigate them. Potential solutions and a path forward are found through discovery, discussion and application in the learning process itself.
