Description
Students read and discuss the Level 2 February 2012 School Journal article, The ANZAC Button a story about a button on Ella’s Great-Great Grandads WW1 soldier’s jacket worn during the battle of the Somme in 1916.
Students then think sustainably about their own family taonga – how it can influence their self-identity, values and purpose as it connects their present self to their past. Potential solutions and a path forward towards a more sustainable sense of belonging to something much bigger than themselves are found through discovery, discussion and application in the learning process itself as students work sequentially working through the student project sheet.
